2026 2nd Quarterly Safety Initiative Winner
McIntyre Golf Development, Inc. - Winner of AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative for 2nd Quarter of 2026
August 26, 2026 - Congratulations to McIntyre Golf Development, Inc. for winning AgriTrust of Georgia's Quarter Safety Initiative.
Owned by Burt Bynum, Steve McIntyre, and Chris McIntyre, McIntyre Golf Development has grown from a small beginning into a major turfgrass operation. The company started in 1996 with only two acres of Tiftway 419 Bermudagrass. Sprigs from those first acres were used to plant fairways for the company’s golf course construction business. As McIntyre Golf Development built and renovated golf courses throughout the Southeast, its turfgrass operation continued to expand. By 1999, the company was growing 30 acres of Bermudagrass. Today, it maintains approximately 600 acres of turf and employs close to 15 people.
Operating a sod farm requires employees to work around tractors, harvesters, mowers, trucks, and other specialized equipment. Employees may also be exposed to changing weather conditions, uneven ground, chemicals, moving machinery, and other agricultural hazards. Recognizing these risks, McIntyre Golf Development makes safe work practices an important part of its daily operations.
The company’s safety philosophy is straightforward: “No job is ever more important than working safely.”
Management reinforces this message by encouraging employees to work at a slow and steady pace, remain focused, and operate equipment safely. This approach reminds employees that completing a task quickly is never worth taking an unnecessary risk.
McIntyre Golf Development’s recognition as the 2nd Quarter Safety Initiative winner highlights the positive impact of consistent safety training and a companywide commitment to employee well-being. It also demonstrates that organizations of any size can foster a strong safety culture when owners, supervisors, and employees work together to prevent injuries.
AgriTrust of Georgia congratulates McIntyre Golf Development, Inc. on earning this recognition and thanks the company for setting a positive example for Georgia’s agricultural community.
