2020 Second Quarter Safety Initiative Winner
Congratulations to Israel Farm Supply, Inc. of Smithville, Georgia for being named the 2nd Quarter Winner of the AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative.
Bogart, Georgia – August 5, 2020 – In 1993, AgriTrust of Georgia was established to provide a stable source for workers’ compensation insurance for the agricultural industry in Georgia. Also, in 1993, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources developed the Georgia Centennial Farm Program to recognize and honor family farms that have maintained working farms in Georgia for over 100 years. Mr. Harold Israel and Israel Farm Supply are members of both groups! The farm, now with the 5th and 6th generations running the operation, has been in the Israel family for over 200 years. At the age of 94, Mr. Harold has lived and worked on his family farm his whole life, with the exception of his years in service during WWII, and has been a seed dealer since the 1950s. Mr. Harold Israel’s whole working life has been dedicated to the advancement and love of agriculture.
Farming over 1,500 acres and operating a farm supply store requires a team effort. So much in fact, the team has made their unofficial slogan at Israel Farm Supply “Team Work Makes the Dream Work.” The five employees that operate Israel Farm Supply coordinate their efforts to ensure the farmers they serve will have the materials needed to reap a bountiful harvest while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. The hard work and devotion to safety Israel Farm Supply shows every day has paid off. The team has been selected as the winner for the AgriTrust of Georgia’s Quarterly Safety Initiative and has been presented with a check for $2,000.00. Currently, there are no plans for the prize money, but whatever is decided it is safe to say it will be used to make the team stronger.
AgriTrust of Georgia is a group self-insured workers’ compensation fund that provides workers’ compensation insurance coverage for the agricultural industry in the state of Georgia. The Quarterly Safety Initiative is designed to encourage all of the fund members to participate in an active safety program.
