AgriTrust of Georgia Welcomes New Trustee
Mr. Kent Fountain of Southeastern Gin and Peanut in Surrency, Georgia joins the current Board of Trustees as the newest Trustee for AgriTrust of Georgia. Kent serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Southeastern Gin and Peanut, a Georgia-based company that has served cotton producers in southeast Georgia since 1995. The company also began serving peanut producers in 2003. Southeastern Gin and Peanut is a longtime AgriTrust of Georgia Fund member. They have been extremely helpful with the Ginner’s Safety Roundtables and have made significant investments in both worker and workplace safety training and equipment over the years.
Kent has been very active in his community, state, and industry for many years. He received his BS in Agriculture from the University of Georgia after graduating from Wayne County High School. Kent has served in numerous leadership positions and/or on Boards of Directors for many organizations such as Leadership Wayne, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, Southeastern Ginners Association, Georgia Economic Board, National Cotton Council, Wayne County Development Authority, Georgia Seed Development, and the Georgia Ports Authority. Some of his honors and awards include the 2002 Southeastern Ginner of the Year, CASC Top Fundraiser 2013-2014 and 2016-2017, and also the National Cotton Ginner of the Year for 2016. Kent is the current Vice President of Georgia Ports Authority, National Cotton Council Past Chairman, Georgia Seed Development Secretary/Treasurer, and Southeastern Ginners Association Past Chairman/Advisor.
