2022 First Quarter Safety Initiative Winner
Williams Produce, Inc. Winner of AgriTrust of Georgia First Quarterly Safety Initiative
Bogart, Georgia – June 15, 2022 – No matter the industry you work in, workplace safety should be discussed. AgriTrust of Georgia believes so strongly in the value of talking about safety, we established the Quarterly Safety Initiative to add a monetary incentive for our Fund members for discussing safety with their employees. Anytime a Fund member conducts a safety talk, this could be a formal safety meeting or a talk on the tailgate, they can enter their company into a drawing. Every quarter, an entry is selected as the winner. This winner will receive a $1,000.00 check. To make things more enticing, if the winner did not have a lost-time claim for that quarter, the amount doubles to $2,000.00. These winnings are given directly to the Fund member and can be used for anything they wish. This is just another way to show that safety does pay.
The 2022 First Quarter Winner in the AgriTrust of Georgia Quarterly Safety Initiative is Williams Produce, Inc. of Moultrie, Georgia. Williams Produce, Inc. specializes in growing and shipping cabbages and other vegetables. Like many agricultural businesses, the majority of their work is seasonal. During their season, Williams Produce can employ over 50 workers at one time. Having that many people working at one time can lead to many safety challenges, especially around the loading dock. The loading dock is a major area of concern due to pedestrian traffic around forklifts that are entering and exiting trucks. To help prevent accidents, Williams Produce ensures all forklift operators stay current on their training so they can better recognize the hazards before they lead to an accident. The better the employee is trained, the better the employee performs. This mindset and dedication to safety has earned Williams Produce a check for $2,000.00.
AgriTrust of Georgia is a group self-insured workers’ compensation fund that provides workers’ compensation insurance coverage for the agricultural industry in the state of Georgia.
